The park features two miles of multi-use trails, a one-mile ADA accessible paved trail, and a variety of historical sites. Trails A and E offer different levels of difficulty, and the park is also home to a small museum.
Trail A begins at the top of Reddish Knob and drops off the top of the hill for 360-degree views of the park. After descending from the top of the hill, it takes riders through giant rock gardens and ‘hike a bike’ uphills. Trail A then loops back uphill before dumping riders into the first trail intersection at a breakneck pace. After an hour of riding, Trail A is only the second-longest trail in the park, but it is well worth the trip.

Resilience Rock Garden
The Resilience Rock Garden is a new public space being developed in James City County, Virginia. It will provide a space for reflection and healing. The project is being spearheaded by members of the Greater Williamsburg Trauma-Informed Community Network and the JCC Parks Department. The garden will be located in Liberty Park, one of the first free Black settlements in the United States. The rocks are symbols of resilience and the community’s strength.
The Resilience Rock Garden at Freedom Park will serve as a permanent space within the park where the community can visit and reflect on their own lives. It will allow them to process their trauma and how resilient they can be. Visitors are encouraged to paint rocks and add messages that encourage them in the process.
